2024 Topps design

After much anticipation, the 2024 Topps Baseball design was revealed on January 11th in a first look posted from the Topps X account.

The card comes with an oversized border and features an “electric” team with the team name in the upper right-hand corner and the team logo in the upper left. The top portion of the card has some black in the border, which may make the card harder to grade but the overall reaction has been positive.

2024 Topps Series 1 base set & design

The base set for 2024 Topps Series 1 consists of 350 cards, 20 cards more than the last few years. The checklist consists of a mix of major league veterans and rookies. The 2024 rookie class is definitely exciting. Subsets are going to be Future Stars, League Leaders and team cards.

2024 Topps Series 1 parallels & variations

In addition, Blaster boxes will come with exclusive holiday-themed parallels. This is similar to how 2023 Topps Update included Christmas/Winter themed parallels. In this case, the holiday Topps is celebrating is Easter, so we’ll get some Easter/Spring themed parallels.

These include:

  • Holiday
  • Eggs – 1:21 packs
  • Rabbits – 1:56 packs
  • Flowers – /50
  • Umbrella – /10
  • Watering Can – /5
  • Roses – 1/1

Each card in the set gets a True Photo Variation. These could be called “Just Photo” variations, as cards have all the cards design elements removed, so just the photo remains. It’s an interesting idea, and it will be fun to see how collectors react.

2024 Topps Series 1 Pros & Cons

Every product has pros and cons to consider when deciding whether to purchase and break them. What are some of the pros and cons associated with 2024 Topps Series 1?

Pros:

  • The rookie class for 2024 Topps Series 1 looks promising. Visit us later for more in-depth coverage of the rookie class once the checklist is available.
  • Flagship Topps sets are among the most collected in the hobby, and the earliest release of the year, which means the rookie cards tend to have solid value compared to some later releases.
  • Topps retail has some exclusive parallels and inserts, and lots of formats, to liven up a break.

Cons:

  • While Topps Flagship rookie cards tend to hold solid value, they do tend to trail behind more premium offerings, including Chrome.

The chances of better autograph hits are much lower in Topps retail products.
